Given that addiction is such a pervasive problem and it is cultivated over a significant period of time, many people are unaware of the significant impact on their life and on their loved ones. Counseling is an important first step at working through your recovery as it is important to not go it alone.
During these sessions, clients identify triggers and causes behind their addiction(s), and what has helped them control impulses in the past. Clients also learn coping skills so they can manage the compulsions without relapsing.
